There are so many places to paint Sybil Head from, I chose this one because of the two fine horses. I intended this to become a full painting, but I really like this version, with the cliffs of Sybil Head in the distance, and the fine horses in the field.
From my studio I see the New River – neither new nor a river, it was built by the Victorians to bring fresh water into London. It’s home to a lot of wildlife as you can well imagine. There’s a piece on it at the Wellcome Library Collection (opens in a new window).
