Tomorrow, Thursday the 12th of October 2017, I’ll be painting a still life, in oil in Sheila Considine’s fashion shop in Cabinteely Co. Dublin. This evening I set up the easel – I’ve never done anything like this before and I’m really looking forward to it, talking about art and painting all day – what could be better?
In the morning I’ll head out and get some fruit or veg – haven’t decided what yet, and set that up in the shop. By late morning I should be working up the composition. Once that’s settled the actual picture starts – maybe late morning or early afternoon.
Firstly I do a pencil sketches, making changes to the composition until I’m happy with that.
Once the pencil sketch is done, I start on the actual panel with pan pastels, thinly applied and accentuating mass, I upscale from the pencil sketch size to the panel size.
Then when I have a solid idea in my head of how the picture will go, I start with the oil paints.
I’ll still be in the shop in the evening. If you are in the area please drop by, if you sign up for my mailing list I have a complimentary signed print for you. If you can’t make it on the day and would like the print, please email me with your address before Sunday the 15th to sign up and I’ll send it to you.
I’m looking forward to a really good day, fashion and paint and Sheila’s latest designs are really gorgeous. Funky, user friendly clothes, made with quality fabrics.
Just to note, since I’m working in oil paint, it’s not a suitable event for children.
I’ll update during the day with progress using #WorkingInTheWindow and #AskMeAnythingAboutArt.
