Sybil Head (Ceann Sibéal)

There are so many places to paint Sybil Head from, I chose this one because of the two fine horses.

Looking towards Sybil Head (Ceann Sibéal), Dingle, West Kerry, Ireland (click on picture to buy a print fromFineArtAmerica.com).

I intended this to become a full painting, but I really like this version, with the cliffs of Sybil Head in the distance, and the fine horses in the field.

The dark horse, drawing, A4. Dingle, West Kerry, Ireland
The original A3 pencil drawing with the cliffs of Sybil Head in the distance.

These are the 2 original drawings, done in the summer of 2015 – firstly I worked the field on A3 size, which worked for the pale horse, but I wanted more detail for the dark horse, so I reworked it on A4, then compiled digitally for the print version.

The drawings are done with Derwent water-soluble pencils and Pilot Croquis pencils.

They are such characters – the pale horse stayed at a distance, but the dark horse came to the fence and even did a bit of a dance.
