About

oil paints on my palette
Oil paint, it is luscious and luxurious.
Painting in oil is one of the most engaging and timeless of artforms. It seems to me in this increasingly digital age, it’s organic nature can thrill us, calm us and adorn our lives whatsoever the image captures; our loved ones or the world about us.

I am a self-taught artist, Irish, and living in London, England.

My journey into painting has been through the idiom of still life and a period of intense study along the lines traditional painting (archive.org is an endlessly rich source of old texts), and the writings of Harold Speed.

Catherine Considine Irish Artist

Like so many people who travel the western seaboard of Ireland, now called the “Wild Atlantic Way’. I had a transforming experience of that landscape and it has become central to my art. With easel on my back and hot soup, I paint in bitter winter weather, exhilarating, or balmy heat – it doesn’t matter. Hiking through Counties Clare, Kerry and Mayo. When resources permit I hope to extend my trips north and south.

I didn’t always paint – my chosen path for many years was that of sound recording engineer, an art form that manipulates sound in a way strangely similar to how a painter manipulates the visual world. It’s good to go from one to the other. Check out AllMusic.Com for a few of the projects and people I’ve recorded.

& please contact me and say hello – it’s always good to get feedback and compare notes in life!
